LRSD to Determine if Provincial Curriculum Will Be Piloted in our Schools
Since the release of the draft K-6 curriculum by the Ministry of Education on March 29, 2021, the Board of Trustees and Senior Administration have been reviewing the proposed changes to the curriculum.
School jurisdictions across Alberta have the option of piloting the new curriculum in the upcoming school year, or waiting until the curriculum is mandated by the provincial government for the 2022-2023 school year.
On April 20, 2021 the Board of Trustees and Senior Administration will meet together to discuss the various dynamics surrounding participation in the pilot program, and whether or not it aligns with the mission, vision, and core values of the Livingstone Range School Division.
“We understand that there are concerns with some of the proposed changes to Alberta’s draft K-6 curriculum,” says Superintendent Darryl Seguin. “We encourage students, parents, staff, and members of the public to participate in the Ministry of Education’s survey tool where you can provide your feedback on the draft K-6 curriculum.”
The ‘Have Your Say’ survey is available on the Government of Alberta website at https://www.alberta.ca/curriculum-have-your-say.aspx.
Following the April 20 LRSD Board meeting, the Division will issue a statement regarding LRSD’s decision.
